  • Whooshie food?

Hi everyone! I tried the famous "whooshie pie" last night and of course it was wonderful - only one problem. I didn't realize until after I read all the posts about it that I omitted the most important part to truly get a whooshie - the horseradish! I just don't like it! So I guess I won't get a visit from the whooshie fairy

So tell me.........does anyone out there have any other "whooshie foods" they can share?

What exactly is a whooshie pie....?

When I first saw this thread, I thought it said "whoopie pie" and I became really excited.

I have often found that increasing my water intake has acted as a bit of a whooshie.

Some people say daikon or radishes are also a whooshie food. I think different people have different things that cause whooshie's though. Also, you will only have a whoosh if you are retaining water. If you have been losing steadily and aren't retaining water, eating an entire whooshie pie won't make you lose anymore water than your body is ready to let go of. If you are retaining water, try drinking more water or eating watery things like cucumber. Ultimately it will all come out, it's just a matter of time.

There's a recipe somewhere on the Board. You can do a search. Basically it's a casserole thing made with ground beef, mustard, horseradish and I forget what else. It sounds totally disgusting to me, but some people like it.

The horseradish in whooshie pie is a diuretic--causes your body to release water it is storing in its tissues...resulting in weight loss on the scale.

Asparagus and celery both have diuretic properties.

Drinking more water will also have this effect.

Honestly, I lose weight better when I eat red meat vs. chicken or pork. I have no idea why that is. I think, in general, I thrive better on red meat. Maybe I'm just imagining it though.

A can of diet coke should do the same

                  Joe,

From what I've always heard (and I've read no scientific evidence to support or disprove this) is that sodas actually can cause your body to retain more water. Plus the cravings that the aspartame causes me to eat eat eat which adds more weight rather than having a diuretic effect.

Of course, I believe 2big would probably say the same thing of the celery, since her body responds adversely to it.

It was tongue in cheek, but coke should make you lose water as it is a diuretic http://www.everydiet.org/diuretic_diet.htm

I drink rite aid and Jone's to avoid aspartame.

I've heard about asparagus and celery being wooshie foods, but they've never worked for me.

Daikon has though. As have things cooked in kimchi. So a kimchi soup with lots of yummy daikon slices does good things for me! Hooray for the oncoming winter (aka: Soup Season)!!

there are many "natural" diruetic foods and if your biody is in the holding water part of the scale weight loss cycle you will get a loss of scale pounds after consuming them, but your body would have naturally shed the fluid pounds when you reached your own body's tolerance capacity for the fluids.
several of the induction veggies are diuretics in the human body the 30% protein level is a natural diuretic too.
