  • Sushi?

    Oh please tell me that there is some variation of sushi that I can have on Atkins!

    Im sure it is totally out of the question for induction but what about later on????

    Is rice paper allowed during induction???

    Yes, there's sashimi, which is sushi without the rice (and seaweed wrap?). I have it all the time...I love it. Thank goodness for sashimi!!

    No rice paper isn't allowed...I'm guessing that's the stuff you put in water, add fillings then roll up?

          I made sushi rolls last week, bought the roasted seaweed "Mitsuki" 1 carb each sheet, no rice just a thick layer of cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber, rolled and served with soy sauce with lime juice.




          14-Feb-04 - 36% fat
          13-May-05 - 27%
          06-Jun-05 - 25.5%
          Jul-06 - 23%
          My goal - 18%

                Ginger and wasabi are fine from what I've been told. Soy sauce is ok too, but you might want to get your own (if you got take out)...some soy sauces might have a trace of sugar.

                And did I say I LOVE sashimi? It's awful I live a 5 minute walk away from a Japanese restaurant, I get take-out sashimi a little too often.

                  Where do you buy mitsuki?? I'd love to have some! The cream cheese idea is great...I never would have thought of that.

                  I have a sushi press at home that came with a sushi dining set...but I have no idea where to get sushi-grade fish and mitsuki LOL.

                      Mirna, it looks very good. I bought some smoked salmon yesterday. I'm planning to stop at the asian marked today or tomorrow to buy Nori. Hubby will be so excited. Thanks for the great idea.
