Re: Avocado
Oh I absolutely share an avocado addiction. I lived in California where getting giant Hass avocados off the tree anytime I wanted was heaven (Santa Barbara) and picking tangerines after they had hung on the tree all winter I swear made them taste exactly like tangerine honey. Oh man, I have to stop thinking of that. I am a member of the Avocado Comission. Check them out.

Re: Avocado
Ok, I'm definately going to have to try an avocado. The only time I've had them is in guacamole. Someone in my Spanish class had made some to take to our Dinner the group was having. To me, it tasted bitter.
Later, at a Mexican resturant ran by Mexicans, I had some REAL guacamole. It wasn't too bad. I will have to get an avocado though the next time I go grocery shopping.

Guacamole. But I also like to slice the and put them into Nicoise salad, put them in spicy chicken soup, put them into omelettes, etc.~Megs~

Re: Avocado
I love avocado and cheese salad with a tsp mayo. Yum. In the 'old days' I used to absolutely ADORE humous, cheese, tomato and avocado sandwiches - though I guess I could try a similar thing without the bread. Am relutant to add back humous yet though.

Re: Avocado
I bought two avocados at the store today. They are from Isreal and organic and thats all I know about them. Going to have to look up some info on what to do with them. I actually never had them before. If I only use a half of an avocado(I'm on rung 1 but I assume I can't have the whole thing?) how should I store the other half before using it. My dh will not eat it and I am not sure about the children. They are expensive so I do not want to let it go to waste.Maggie(F) age 31

Re: Avocado
You can wrap the other half in plastic wrap (make sure you wrap it as tightly as possible to prevent air coming in contact with the flesh---otherwise it will turn brownish. It will still be edible, but it won't look as pretty.)

Re: Avocado
Thanks for the website not2late. Now I need to find a paper bag! We only have plastic bags at stores here normally(though I think my mil has some paper bags at her store, will call and ask!) I do have bananas in the house so I will throw one in the bag. That site is very interesting. Not sure what kind of avocado I have still.Maggie(F) age 31
