well they did it in chat? lets confess here...not about a cheat food that is not good for us at all!!!....confess something about you or your cooking style that you do not openly admit to....ok I will start....

I am temperamental as **** ...bet you would have never guessed that from me?

I just mentioned it to Nullo in another thread...when I tried to learn to make pie crust I broke several bowls tossing them really hard against the wall.....ok there...that felt good....
I drop a lot of F bombs when I cook and can only cook with people who know what to do and will let me have complete control....I can cook for 30 at the drop of a hat... but have to have complete control and can be a real space hog.....
    I do not wash dishes....
boy I sound like a monster! but really not....Why do people put up with me I wonder out loud? Oh wait ...really awesome food they do not have to lift a finger for unless they really want to ....and when I am done I flop ...no kitchen duty I have fun!!!....

    your turn!!!!

Hehe, my kitchen confession is using more chiles than most people find comfortable .

I made a pot of chili last night, and I warned my roomate that it would be spicey, he decided to eat a bowl anyway, and was begging me for Tagamet HB half an hour later....

Nullo I didn't think we needed to confess being chili lovers LOL But count me one too.

I never write down the recipe as i create it and then I never make it exactly the same way twice.

The first time I try a recipe I follow it to the letter. Afterwards, I just use it as a guide because I'm always trying to improve the recipe by adding alittle bit of this or that. So my carb counts have to be re-figured all the time.

I clean my utensils as I go.

I'm a cookbook addict. I admit that. And I bought 3 new cookbooks earlier this week, gotta problem with that?

I'm a cooking show addict. I like some more than others, but I like them all better than regular tv programs.

I love my blender and food processor.

          I love cooking parchment paper.

I love my George Foreman grill and I love my Weber charcoal grill.

I love brining lean meats like chicken and turkey breasts and boneless pork chops.

          I love vegetables.

I love herbs and spices. I grow some herbs and edible flowers.

I totally blame it on television, nurselady, specifically PBS and Julia Child.

My mom cooks, but very plainly. When I was kid, I got hooked on cooking shows: Julia, Frugal Gourmet, Jacques Pepin, Nathalie Dupree, the Great Chef's series, etc. I used to watch "The Victory Garden" because it had a cooking segment. If whatever they were cooking looked do able for a pre-teen/teenager, I would try it out.

When I lived on my own, I went vegetarian. So I had to buy cookbooks for recipes and for cooking techniques, which lead to more cookbooks and more cooking shows...

I also would try to figure out recipes---I blame that on Phil Donahue because he used to have a guest named Gloria Pitzer on his show. She used to specialize in making "look-alike" recipes, like the original Kentucky Fried Chicken, Wendy's Chili, etc. and then share her recipes on Phil's show.

Anyhow, I'm still hooked on cooking shows and cookbooks.

Julia Child was my mentor as well but she was NOT tidy!!!!!....Nor were most of the chefs I watched on PBS!!!!

I met the Frug before he was a in trouble....my son so admired him he became a chef after meeting him....

I was a vegetarian most of my life!...became anemic from running and now eat as little meat as I can to still be on "Atkins"

I remember that!!!!....I do not eat fast food but that was pretty interesting

Anyhow, I'm still hooked on cooking shows and cookbooks.

You met the Frug? I liked his show because he cooked and did the food history thing too.

Thanks, by the way. Foodies have to unite!

I confess that I grill outside during the winter.

I confess that I rarely measure anything and taste things to see if I have the right amounts of a certain spice or salt in a recipe.

I confess that I lick the beaters and spatulas after I'm done with them. (sorry, kids, but Dad already got that one!)

Not2Late, are you my "evil twin"? I too can confess to nearly everything you did including Food TV!

I also collect cookbooks and receive 4 cooking magazines each month. (I'm not going to renew Martha Stewart's Everyday Food though because they don't include nutritional info on all of their recipes!)

Also love my George Foreman Grill (which has lost most of its non-stick coating now) so my mom bought me the new Grilleration with removeable grills for Christmas (we were shopping together when I was checking it out and she offered to buy it for me for Christmas -- who am I to say 'no'??)

I love my high-tech computerized rice cooker and my bread maker that makes small loaves of bread -- but alas they are gathering dust since I haven't used them since sometime in June.

So I'm content to "play" with my cuisinart and my steamer instead.

My other confession from my old eating days was to make "muffin tops" only rather than whole muffins -- but no muffins since June either.

I think you're mine because I was a charter subscriber to Everyday Food and I'm not renewing it for that same reason too! Also I don't think that publication or Living has been good since Martha ran into her troubles, especially Living.

When you get to OWL, you might be able to dust off the rice cooker and do whole grains in it. Same thing for the bread machine----lots of low carb bread machine recipes out there.

Muffin top pan? You can make sandwich buns using the muffin top pan and the flax cake recipe or the Atkins Revolution Rolls recipe.

Oh yeah, here's the other thing I'll confess to. I love looking at magazines for their "low carb recipes" just to laugh my rear-end off: I love how a recipe with 30 carbs per serving is "low carb"!

                            my confession

I love cooking and I love having people over for dinner.
But, I refuse to serve a dish unless I have perfected it. So, I will plan my menu for my dinner party and eat the same thing everyday that week, making it and remaking it until I am satisfied.

I also never measure and I use recipes as guidelines

After a car accident which destroyed the nerves responsible for tastes/flavours, I have to rely on the taste buds on my tongue and my sense of smell, so seasoning things is a "hit and miss" endeavour. Usually, I'll put what I think should be right, and get someone else to taste it for perfection/adjustment.

So, now I am usually the baker (if anything gets baked) and my hubby is the cook. If I cook, it's usually quite simple, or a recipe has to be followed (or used as a guideline for seasoning).

I think I gained a lot of weight after the car accident, not because I couldn't move adequately, but because I ate everything in sight - hoping it would taste like something other than cardboard. I've learned to adjust to it, now, and use the sense of smell and sight to enjoy meals.

So, now, I can look at presentations of food and enjoy smelling it, without having to taste it - makes it a lot easier to follow this WOL, I guess. Sweets are just that . . . sweet - no real experience other than that overwhelming sweetness in the mouth - not as pleasurable as one might imagine.
