  • Best way to cook bacon?

    Hi all,

This may sound like a silly question, but I've never actually cooked bacon before

What's the best way to cook your average bacon rashers?

The absolute best way to cook bacon...is in the microwave...put three sheets of paper towel on a microwave safe plate...then put down up to 6 pieces of bacon...then lay 3 paper towels on top of that pop it in the microwave...and between 4-5 min.s you have yourself crispy bacon...be careful, plate will be hot...throw out paper towels, quick wash up the plate...no muss...no fuss...

My second favorite way is in a drip pan in the oven on 350 degrees till it's crisp...but that takes longer, and theres a mess to clean.

    Hope this helps!

I like to fry mine in a skillet. Then I use the grease later to fry my vegetables in.

From your terminology, you're from the UK, right? I think it depends what kind of bacon you are cooking. If it's back bacon, then cook it in the skillet with alittle oil. If it's streaky bacon, you can skillet cook it too, but you can also cook it in the microwave, like cathy suggested, or cook it in the oven (place it on a baking sheet in a single layer.)

I have a stoneware cookie sheet. Put the bacon on that and pop it in the oven. It crisps beautifully and doesn't splatter at all.

Re: Best way to cook bacon?

Try cutting the entire slab in half and putting it in the skillet all at once, stirring it every so often to keep it seperated and cooking evenly. You can cook a whole pound of bacon at once like this and you get these nice, poppable little bacon curls. MMMMM

If you want smaller curls, cut the slab into thirds.
