That would all depend on the recipe? What one were you thinking of making?

No way in Helll do I eat those things ...if you are looking for a coating or filler for a savory dish ..use parmesan (or any hard) cheese ...

It really depends on the recipe as Sadie and Heidi have said.

        For coatings:
Use a hard cheese, like Parmesan. Grate it and coat the meat in it. Mix the cheese with herbs for extra flavor.

For a rice or bread crumb substitute in stuffings or meat balls/loaf:
Saute finely chopped celery, onion or mushrooms. Cool and add them to the stuffing mixture. Rice and bread crumbs used for this are typically added to extend meat and to add moisture to the final product. But using cooked vegetables does the same thing.

        For toppings for gratins:
Use a hard cheese like parmesan mixed with chopped herbs and/or finely chopped onion.

                  Re: Rinds replacement?

I don't know if there is anything that would work either. But if it's a breakfast recipe you are looking for..how about flax pancakes? http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...earchid=406840

There is a product called tvp (texturized vegetable protein) that you could use in the higher rungs that may work, maybe Megs or Heidi would know better, i've never really used it. It's made from soybeans so I think you'd have to wait till the legumes rung.

Anyone have any thoughts on using tvp for this?

                      Re: Rinds replacement?

Miss World, if you go to the 14 Day Induction Forum, there's a thread called Induction Recipe Basics. There is a recipe for "Atkins Revolution Rolls". You can use make that recipe and use it for pancakes.

Another pancake type recipe is to separate the white and the yolk of an egg. Mix the yolk with sweetener, vanilla extract, spices, etc. and set aside. Beat the egg white with a pinch of salt until it forms 'stiff peaks'. Then fold in the yolk, so that the yolk is incorporated but the mixture is still fluffy. Then cook it like the mock french toast recipe.

I never really liked the mock french toast recipe because it was too salty.
