  • Diabeti Sweet?

Has anyone used Diabeti Sweet to cook with? It is suppose to be a sugar substitute and dosn't produce a glycemic response. It has 4.4 carbs per teaspoon. It is Isomalt, Acesulfame-K. Can I use it on induction for baking if I count the carbs? Splenda gives me a really bad headache.

    Thank you,
    Charlene

Isomalt is a sugar alcohol. Your 'mileage may vary' with sugar alcohols because they affect different people differently. For some people, it has the same effect as regular sugar on their bodies, for others it doesn't. Ace-K is okay for Induction.

It's been awhile since I've read the label on Diabeti-Sweet, but I remember it was something like 4 carbs per teaspoon of the product. That's kinda high for a serving of any sweetener, imo, especially since regular sugar is 5 carbs per teaspoon!

You might want to look for saccharin too, because saccharin is also a "legal sweetener" for Atkins.

Use Liquid Splenda No carbs or calories and is safe for diabetics. Usually powdered Splenda gives me headaches too but liquid splenda does not. I think the fillers in the powdered splenda is what caused them. You can get a sample and see if you tolerate it.
