  • What's for Easter Dinner??

Thought i'd start an Easter dinner thread, in case anyone needs any ideas on what they can have.

We will be having a traditional turkey dinner.

For the sides there will be stuffing (for the family).
veggies with cheese sauce, both cauliflower and brocolli
    sweet potatoes (starchy veggie rung)
    mashed turnips
    ham
    green beans

For desert i'll likely make a low carb cheesecake.

    What is your family having?

My kids wanted ham. We are also having a turkey (cause the ham is too salty for me and causes water gain). I'm making scalloped potatoes for them and cauliflower for me. We're having a toss salad and asperagus. They'll also have rolls and dessert. We've planned some activities such as Egghunt, volleyball and a walk on the walkway. (I try to plan an activity for the family everytime we have a "Food gathering" so we can exercise together.

        Re: What's for Easter Dinner??

i am hosting easter dinner this year, and there's a large crowd (16), so i'll be making things that are not legal for me, but you know, it's nice to get the compliments, even if i can't eat it! lol!

-ham and lamb as the meat course
        -kielbasi & kraut also
-veggies: broccoli w/ cheee, cinnamon carrots w/ splenda glaze so i can eat a few, cole slaw, potato salad (not legal at all for me), mashed cauliflower
        -big ol' garden salad
        -pickle and olive tray
-pickled eggs with beets and onion (don't ask, it's a weird slovak thing)
-dinner rolls and pumpernickel slices (not allowed for me)
-poppyseed roll (also a slovak thing, but not allowed for me)

i don't know about dessert yet - i am thinking of asking someone else to bring it, since i am overwhelmed, kind of.

Easter is a big family bring-a-dish thing. Usually, there's a leg o' lamb and ham. There might be a turkey (in addition to my brother-in-law, but I digresss....) too.

I'm bringing some kind of veggie dish: either asparagus with Hollandaise or a creamy celery salad.

Going to be a large gathering, I confirmed that there will be stuff that I can eat: ham, salad, asparagus and raw veggies. There will also be a lot of things I can't eat but I'm not too worried about having to fight off any cravings or anything.

Like the idea of including an exercise activity, I'm going to someone elses house but maybe after dinner I can convince some or all of the group to go on a walk. Hmmm

My boyfriend and I are having a private dinner for two which includes:

              Filet mignon
Butternut puree for me, baby red potatoes for him
              String beans
              Stella NY Cheesecake
A glass or two of a nice red wine!

We'll probably also go out for a nice long walk if the weather cooperates. I'm going for a long run earlier that morning, weather be damned!
