Can anyone enlighten me on how to make meringues with splenda. I am utterly useless and every time I make them they are a disaster. I don't actually need them too sweet so for 8 egg whites I am using 2/3 packets of splenda. What always seems to happen is they come out very powdery. I am pathetic at cooking BTW so idiot proof ideas would be welcome. Thank you.

Re: Meringues - need some help
I had the same thing happen to me. Soon after I made the attempt at meringue with splenda I saw a cooking show on Food Network that stated the only way to make a good meriingue was with real sugar. Why not just make a good whipped topping with heavy cream? I've done that many times and turns out fine.female

Re: Meringues - need some help
I'm quite sure that the secret to meringues is sugar.
Here is a recipe on Linda's site that shows her experiments and results both the splenda and with sugar: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/meringue_surprises.htmlJen, 39, F
