Hi Mike, and welcome to ADBB!

Yes, there is bacon out there that doesn't contain sugar. Our local Kroger store sells their own store brand - but I don't know if you have Krogers there. I noticed last week that Kahn's meats carries a sugar-free bacon. And Boar's Head bacon is both sugar free and nitrate free. You can check their web site and call their 800# to see if a store near you carries their products. WELL worth a trip if you can find Boar's Head!!

It's the sugar you really need to worry about for weight loss. The nitrates are simply a personal health choice and won't stop you from losing weight.

    Hope this helps!

Remember the concern about nitrates is more a health concern about carcinogens not about losing weight. Finding one without being cured in sugar should be much easier as I have still not found any but butcher cuts not cured in nitrates. (The butchers might be lying to me about their bacon, but I am not too concerned about nitrates in the first place.)
