  • Cheese crisps in microwave

Don't know if anyone has tried this.

An old Italian lady told me to put a 1" x 1" cube of cheese (cheddar, colby, any hard form cheese) on a glass plate sprayed with PAM. You can not use anything but PAM (trust me I tried). Put it in the middle of the plate and microwave it for 2-3 minutes. Every microwave is different, so you will have to experiment. At home it takes 3 min, the one at work takes 2.11 min....

Anyway, the end result is a very tasty crispy treat, great for crunching up in a "legal" taco salad. Or just to get the munchies out of you. My fav pepper jack.

I just lay mine on the glass plate and melt it. I either cut up a cheese stick or use the grated cheese from the bag.

Emma, PAM is just a brand name for nonstick cooking spray.

yes parchment paper works the best and it's not all greasy from it. Also I usually just wipe my paper off and reuse it a time or two since the stuff is so expensive.

I always heard to use the deli deluxe american. I haven't tried it with anything else.

It does make awesome chips great with guacamole or broken up for a taco salad as was mentioned. I've added chili powder to the cheese just as it bubbles (before done) and start them again. I'm sure you could add other flavorings. I need to try some dry ranch seasoning because my fave chips were always Cool Ranch Doritos.

You can use almost any cheese, except for the soft cheeses like cream cheese, Brie or camembert.
