  • Question about Sugar Substitutes

I have been looking for a sweetner that does not have the aftertaste that Splenda does and toay I found "Z Sweet". It seems like its too good to be true. Has anyone tried this or know if this is "legal". It tastes sweet and has no aftertaste. It has 4g carbs, 0 cholesterol, 0 sodium, 0 sugars, 0 protein. The ingredients are Erythritol and natural flavors. I checked on line as well and say the "low carb" advertisement. So, I think its a good substitue. It measures just like sugar too.

I also bought NuStevia - White Stevia, No Carbs, which is pretty good too. Of the two, I like the Zsweet better.

Has anyone tried either of these??

    Re: Question about Sugar Substitutes

Hi, I'm a little confused. Erythirtol is supposed to be only 70% as sweet as sugar. I'm wondering how they made it measure out the same as you should have to use a bit more to make it taste the same.

Also, http://www.annecollins.com/dietary-c...arbs-sugar.htm says that 1 tsp of sugar has 5 carbs. Does that mean that one teaspon of z sweet has 4 carbs? If so I really don't see much point as there is only a 1 carb difference and as many people find sugar alcohols actually do cause weight stalls.

I use regular stevia and enjoy it but it does give what taste to me an almost molasses flavor. Looks like the nuStevia is a liquid stevia that has had the color and some of the flavor extracted from it. I don't see anything in that that would cause any problems. I'd say that is the better way to go.

Thanks for the feedback Grant! I may try them both (separatley for a week or two) and see what the effects are on my weight loss.

      Cheers!
