    ? about storing avocados

I got a great deal on some beautiful avocados this weekend. They weren't quite ripe, which was perfect, but now they're all getting ripe at the same time (of course). Will refrigerating them slow down the process, or just turn them to mush? I can only have 1/2 a day, so I'd like them to last as long as possible and I'm the only one in the family that will eat them. I only have 3 left, so it's not like I'm talking about a case of them, but I hate to waste food (or anything else).

Thanks for the info. I supposed freezing them (after preparing them in something?) probably wouldn't work?
