  • Spices?

I'm looking for things to sprinkle on my food or marinade my food in. (I am getting bored of the taste of meat again.)

I have bought a box of "Season All". This contains salt, paprika, celery seed, garlic powder, dried onion, black pepper, cayennes, coriander and nutmeg, and it is absolutely delicious.

I'd like to find some others, to vary my food a bit more.

Can anyone suggest anything? I do not like herbs at all.

    Re: Spices?

if i'm cooking chicken and ive been getting bored of it i'll fry it in garlic, pepper and butter, then some days i'll use a tin of tomatoes and add garlic and onions... its about what you like really,

good idea though, varying it all up so you don't get bored.

Be careful of adding tin tomatoes though as they do tend to have quite a high carb count from memory I believe a lot of them have added sugar.

I might try buying a similar spice mixture in a different supermarket - they might put slightly different ingredients in what they call "Season All".

Is curry paste legal, if you just spread it on thinly?

the organic ones in most supermarkets have no added sugar so if you did choose to do that, its your best option

            Re: Spices?

I don't have any curry paste to look at, but I imagine there is some form of sugar in it. I'm intrigued to know, if you marinade your chicken in it but throw it all away, scrape it off, would the small amount of sugar really "matter" - I mean, what if it was only one carb or something?

Last time I went off the wagon big time because I was bored out of my brain with meat. When I went off the wagon I did not eat any meat for two weeks - it nauseated me. I desperately don't want that to happen again, hence looking to make it more varied and different...

              Re: Spices?

Curry powder is just a spice. Like papricka or garlic powder. It doesn't have any sugar in it.

Sorry, I just reread your post and noticed you said curry paste not powder I still can't imagine it having sugar in it but it might.
