  • UK - Fibre-sure this is new here is it ok?

    Hey guys,

Theres a new product I noticed in the UK called Fibre-sure, I saw it advertised on the telly saying it has no taste etc so I figured I would get some. Once I saw it was okay for cooking/baking I got it @ £6.99 for 195g.

It has 5g fibre & 0.15 carbs per heaped teaspoon (5.8g) Ingrediants: Inulin from chicory (100%)

It says only three spoons a day, but figured as it has no taste and doesnt affect texture, I could use it to lower my carb content in foods eg. I make sugerfree jelly with cream, could I add a teaspoon of this to the cream to lower the carbs by 4.85g?????

I really hope I can because I know its only 2-3 spoons allowed per day but it would help loads reducing some carby meals that I've tried to avoid so not lose lose all my allowance

It is a way to get more fiber, but you would be cheating yourself (IMO) if you use it just to lower the carb count of foods. I would use it only for regularity. We have had it in the States for about the past year or so. A warning for you, it can make you a bit gassy/crampy feeling. Start slow with it.

You really don't "lower" your carb counts when you add fiber to a food because we only count the "net" carbs during Atkins.

Net carbs = total carbs - fiber grams - sugar alcohol.

So if a food has 5 total carbs and you add 5 fiber grams to it, that food will have 10 total carbs, but we only count 5 net carbs during Atkins.
