  • Biscuit and Baking Mix

I found a low carb Bisquit Mix and Baking Mix at Super Walmart yesterday. It's 10 oz for only $1.00!! I couldn't believe it. It's by CarbSense Foods. Walmart had an entire middle rack set up for low carb products, very exciting!! Anyway, I am doing induction again, and very successfully, so I won't be able to try the mixes for awhile. Just wanted to let you all know so you can head to a Walmart near you! Also, I finally found Davincis syrup there in the coffee aisle. I've been looking and looking. I found vanilla, and it was the smaller bottle for 3 something, but I was almost out and Netrition mentioned last time not shipping the glass bottles. So I found it just in time!! (it's -1 here this morning with an extreme wind chill so I wouldn't be getting those glass bottles anytime soon. I believe Netrition products come from Albany NY which is an hour and a half north of me. ) Anyway, happy shopping!

I tried several CarbSense products including the biscuit mix - and all I can say is YUCK. They taste like dirt. No, they taste like dirty feet dirt.

In the Food forum we have/had a discussion going on Carbquik, which isn't available in stores, but is available online. I've used that for a pizza dough base, and it was very similar to Bisquik. It can also be used to make biscuits and anything you used Bisquik for. So far all I've tried is the pizza dough.

In that same thread, you'll find a poster by the name of Jen111 (I think that's what it is). She has a web site and low carb ezine, and has a recipe for a homemade bisquik replacement -- got to be less expensive than the CarbSense stuff.

You may like the CarbSense. I just don't like soy flour, but I'm sure some people do.

Oh no, I was hoping for a good report on them...no wonder the box is only $1.00!!
I did try the Carb Quick and it was good, I followed the recipe on the box for the Cheddar Muffins, they were very salty though, so I would definatley make sure not to add any extra salt like they said to do.
Not sure if I like soy, but now that I'm back on induction, it will be a while before I try!
      Thanks for the info!

I'm wondering if there are different mixtures of the CarbQuick out there, I have heard a couple people mention it being very salt, but then others, myself included, detect no salt taste at all. It could just be personal sensitivity to salt, if you don't tend to eat a lot of salt you might be more senstive towards it.

The Carbsense bake mixes aren't that bad, but you can't really use the recipes on the box, because many of them are flawed. I can't remember what I did to the biscuits to make them palatable, but I was able to get some edible stuff from some of their boxes.
