  • Samphire or Salicornia....

... which I believe is also called Sea Bean - does anyone know anything about it?

Ive eaten it before in restaurants, but never saw it for sale anywhere until I found some at the local farmer's market yesterday. There is more about it at Wikipedia, and a nutritional profile here, which basically makes no sense when I look at what I bought

It's very light - I bought 100g and it is certainly enough for 4 very decent portions, so I can't understand why that nutritional thing says that 75g is a half cup - what I bought is 100g in weight and would easily fill two cups. Also the protein count there seems very high to me for a green vegetable.

What should I go by? Weight or measure?

I have people coming for dinner tonight and was planning to feed them baked cod with samphire cooked in butter and lemon, just not sure how to account for it in my case.

In the 1992 version of Atkins, it was listed on the "salad" vegetable list.

Yippee! It's really very nice. I wonder though if it was taken off the list for a reason - are there many other differences between the lists?
