It's allowed. Tofu is the "soy cheese" mentioned in the cheese footnote of the Induction acceptable foods list. Long before vegan companies made cheese flavored imitation soy cheese, tofu was called "soy cheese". In fact, a book Dr. Atkins wrote in the late eighties mentions "soy cheese(tofu)".
Just be aware that the carbs vary type to type, brand to brand. Also since tofu is treated as a cheese, it's limited to 3-4 ounces.
thanks megs, i saw a mock mac and cheese recipe that sounds good that i wanted to try...even though i wasn't totally BIG on mac and cheese in the first place, i love tofu, so it sounded good to try!

I made the tofu mac and cheese early in my Atkins experimenting - it was awful. Now, I like tofu, and I think most recipes have promise, but this... this was just plain old awful. Tell me if you find a way to make it work though.
