  • Question of the Day

Ok, this is important. How do you tell if an egg is fresh. I just put some eggs on to boil and most sunk, one like floated to the top? Should I be suspect or what.

The one that rose to the top is bad.

Very fresh eggs will lie on their side.
As they age they begin to stand on their end, these are the best to boil because they have the lrgest air pocket and easiest to peel.
Once they begin to leave the botttom of the pot its time to toss.

Floaters are bad. The fresher the egg the more to the bottom it should sit in the water.

I have eaten floating and sunken eggs...the ONLY way I know when an egg is really bad is when it sends you running out the front door after you crack it. Other wise I will eat them!!! if they sink they may be older but are not always rotten that I can see?
