    I've read that you should measure the weight of foods, such a vegetables, before cooking.

    But what about when using an online calculator such as FitDay?

    For example, I'm preparing sautéed mushrooms. When the online calculator for Mushrooms, cooked, from fresh, fat added in cooking is for one cup, is that the amount before or after cooking?

    In other words, if I measure one cup of mushrooms and they are reduced to 1/2 cup after cooking, which cup amount do I select in the calculator?

    I use raw measurements only. Veggies reduce *so* much when cooking that it's the only way to stay accurate.

    When I sautee mushrooms, I enter it into Fitday as 1 cup raw mushrooms, 1 tbsp, 1/2 tsp minced garlic. Fitday has some strange ideas about how food is prepared. It takes a little longer to enter it in my way, but I know it's right and it's exactly what I ate/used.

    General rule of thumb for success: If it requires a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce it, you probably shouldn't eat it.

      Apparently so.

      I entered my ingredients individually and the totals went from their count of 76 calories and 8 carbs to 52 calories and 3 carbs.

      At FitDay, what does "NFS" mean? As far as I can tell, there is no glossary there.
