  • Cream Cheese?

I can't find cream cheese without sugar carbs. The lowest seems to be philidelphia original in the box/foil pack, but it still has a gram of sugar per serving. Any help? Am i missing something?

    Thanks Guys!

Cheese isn't carb free. As long as you are buying the full fat sort I imagine that you are very much ok.

      Re: Cream Cheese?

I know it isn't carb free, but on most cheeses it doesn't list any carbs under "sugar". It seems like on cream cheese and sour cream, it does however...

      I wonder why?

I shouldn't worry about eating Phili to plan.

If you are on the diary rung try full fat Greek strained yougurt as well. I sweeten it with a little splenda, flavour it with vanilla extract and eat it with a few berries (from the freezer in winter)
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
        he said, 'Don't count calories.'

          Re: Cream Cheese?

I believe the sugar comes from the milk it's made with, its not actually added sugar. As longas the ingredients dont include sugar, it's fine to eat jsut count the carb.

              full fat philly is fine,

As Sadie said, if it doesnt list it in the ingredients your good, more often than not theyre "natural" sugars.

                Re: Cream Cheese?

There is added Sugar, and then there are natural sugars.

Especially in dairy products: cheese, cream cheese, milk, cream, yogurts, etc. the naturally occurring sugar is lactose. Even vegetables have some naturally occurring sugars. We can have these sugars. What we avoid is when manufacturers ADD additional sugar. The way you see this is if there are sugars listed in the nutrition panel of the label, next look down in the list of INGREDIENTS. If sugar is listed as an additional ingredient, you'd want to avoid that product. I think you'll find that there is no added sugar in your cream cheese...and that's okay.

                  What they said, plus . . . .
Take a look at own-brand fullfat cream cheeses too - I found that the Waitrose own brand has half the carbs of philly!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
