  • Is This Ok To Eat?

I mixed sour cream with a Hidden Valley Ranch season packet. I also put an oz. or 2 of crumbled blue cheese in it. I used this as a dip for my buffalo wings and it was sooooooooo good. Too good I think. I'm thinking this one is gonna slow my weight loss. It's just too darn tasty.. Thanks for any feedback.

Watch the hidden sugars in the season packet & make sure the sourcream is allowed on the rung you are on.

The pack said it had 1 gram of carbs per 2 tblsp. The sour cream said the same. How can I find "hidden sugars"?

Look in the ingredients list for sugar or sugar ingredients in disguise. Dextrose, Fructose, Corn Syrup, etc. Those are sugar.

I would also look at how many servings that packet has, i think its like 32??? So if you use a whole packet in one thing of sour cream and you have a lot of it, it could add up in carbs. That packet is made to be distilled in liquid and the liquid adds the bulk of the "tablespoons" So i would be careful how much you use. You probably would be better off using ranch dressing with no sugar and adding BC to it.

Packets of seasoning tend to be tricky lil suckers.

One more thing.. "0 carbs" doesn't really mean it is 0 carbs. Manufacturers can round the number to 0 if they have < 0.5 carbs/serving. Some manufacturers play with numbers by decresing the serving size so that the carb count fall under 0.5 and then they can round it to 0. Take the following example of X product..

            Serving Size = 1 cup
Total carbs = 3.92 (which would be displayed on the product as total of 4 carbs)

If the manufacturer can drop the serving size to 1oz, and since the 1 cup = 8 oz, then it will be displayed like this,

            Serving Size = 1 oz
Total carbs = 0.49 (which can be displayed as 0 on the product).

So, just watchout and ALWAYS look at the ingredients.
