  • here is one for Martha!!! Saffron Custard with roasted peppe

I took a recipe from Martha Stewart and cut the carbs down ..this one is a keeper....

    Saffron Custard with Roasted Peppers

roast, peel and dice two nice sweet red peppers

in the blender put the following

    1 cup heavy cream
    2 egg yolks
    1 whole egg
1 tsp of saffron threads crushed and dissolved in hot water
1 clove minced garlic softened in some melted butter
    salt and fresh cracked pepper

blend but just a short time
pour into oiled custard cups and bake at 350 for 20 min let sit in the oven with the door cracked to cool to room temp and serve as main (for me) or a side!

this is really comfort food I am telling you!

Im not getting this recipe. Do I pour the custard into the red peppers or do I blend up the peppers with the custard.

I don't have any saffron, Ill check at the commissary but my chances are pretty nil to none. Could I use another spice.
