  • Wondering about Flax seed cracker recipe

    Here's the recipe

flax seed crackers are supper easy.
take some flax meal and water, mix together until you have paste..but it will be alittle runny, kind of like thick pancake batter...add in whaterever flavorings you like...I like plain salt...but can do garlic salt, cayenne pepper...whatever.
spread it thinly on some oven paper and nuke in the microwave for 3 minutes....the thinner the batter the crisper the chips..

I was wondering if this could be used as a pizza crust? Say like....make the recipe....place in a skillet and turn and cook till brown.

Put a brush of olive oil, fresh spinach, Feta or pesto then top with mozzerella. I Love me some Greek Food.

How does this measure up with carbs?

I tried flax seed pizza crust and was dissapointed. See, flax seeds have LOTS of flavor, and the flavor just didn't mesh with what pizza should (at least to me..) taste like. For a pizza crust, I'd go with a cream cheese/egg/garlic/cheese mix I found a recipe of a long time ago. It actually came out like a deep dish pizza.

When I developed the microwave flax wafer and posted it here on ADBB in 2003, we had this discussion about the carb count, etc.

I posted in the main forum too, but have you guys heard of Salba? I'm using it now in place of my flax...it seems ot have a different texture when cooked (tried the 2min flax bun with it this a.m.), it's more 'bready' and far less slimy...also has much less of that strong nutty taste, it's almost neutral.

Here's some info on it. I've seen it on a ton of shows and it's in alot of health stores here now. problem is it's quite pricey at $15 for a small bag of ground. if i use the recommended 4tbsn a day i'm thinking the bag might last me 2 weeks. I'm thinking of buying a bag of whole, which is $23 and i think will go farther. unlike flax it doesn't matter if it's ground or not.

I know I sound like an ad for this stuff (i get no commision i swear )...but I think it's a great alternative for those that don't like flax:

This is their US site with a store locator:

http://www.salba.info/introduction.html they also do a Salba/Flax nutrient comparison.

              Salba is

Salvia Hispanica was to the Aztecs what Ginseng is to the Orient: the nutritional secret for restoring vigor and prolonging life.

And we all know what ginseng does! LOL
