I noticed some hot wings have flour in them. What are the best hot wings? I like to have these when I need a high fat snack and kinda sorta a meal.

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
I was hoping to find some that are premade because it is one of my meat "quick fixes" I might have to give them up. I would hate that.

Wait, I guess I could make up a big batch on my own and put them in the freezer. What recipe do you use?

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
I do the same....bake my own, but without the flour. In the summer time, that's usually when my family likes them, I make up my own "dressing" of oil, vinegar, and seasonings (garlic powder, S&P, parsely, 2 pkts of Splenda..and shake shake shake). Hubby likes to add cayenne pepper to his batch....something I avoid because I like to eat my wings
Protein powder is higher up on the OWL rungs, but it's another one that is good for "coating" and frying up...if you're at the soy protein OWL level (sorry, my mind's a blank at the moment for the exact level), mix with your favorite spices, coat and fry.
Hope that gives you some ideas...sure makes me think of spring just around the corner!

Porcelain, I'm with the other girls, I use fresh and make them myself. Buy a big ole bag of them and bake them until the skin is really crispy and then freeze them. Then, it really wouldn't be any different than the ones you buy premade. PLUS, you'll have the advantage of knowing exactly what's in them.
I like to put salt, pepper, cumin, red chili powder on mine. I've gotten so lately that I don't even put hot sauce on them, just the spices. Onion and garlic powder is good too. You can even squeeze some lime juice on them. However, I will on occasion, put my wings in a microwaveable steamer bag they make now...and put a few shots of hot sauce and a pat of butter in there, when I'm going to work. Then, when I nuke it, all I have to do is get the wings hot, and then toss the bag to mix up the butter and hot sauce. Voila! Buffalo Wings.
I do the exact same thing with the leg quarters. I *JUST* got done baking 10 lbs of fresh leg quarters. Then I'll put each quarter in it's own ziploc bag and then I've got grab and go lunch all week. (and dinner).~Joy

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
Thanks guys! That is a good idea! You know, I wonder if I hadn't been eating these wings if my weight would have been coming off a little faster. This is sad to say, I didn't think they had any flour in them. I just thought it was hot sacue and spices. I would get them from where my husband works because he would get a discount. Well, I bought the large package today from the same buyer that he gets them from for the restaurant and I just wanted to scream when I noticed the package said "Contains wheat." Even though it is "less than 2%" that is more than I want.

Most of the grocery store rotisserie chickens have flour on them too! I know for a fact that Sam's Club's rotisserie chickens have flour. I finally looked at the ingredients list on the package. States it clearly right there.
ACK!
Once you get into the habit of doing mass cooking one day a week, you'll find that it's actually MUCH MUCH more convenient than anything else. Plus, you have peace of mind.~Joy

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
I make my own too, but I like to fry mine instead of baking. Recently, I purchased the new freezer bags with the little vacuum hand-held sealer. Now I make up little bags of 4 wings (8 pieces) vacuum seal it and stick in in the freezer. Then i pop them in the oven for about 15 minutes at high heat to reheat. Yummmmmmmm

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
I don't spice 'em. I marinate them about 12 hours in a mixutr of italian dressing and crushed garlic, drain em and fry em. I do use hot sauce though.....about half and half with butter cause I'm too wimpy to use it straight

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
I use the recipe on the bottle of Frank's Red Hot (sauce----not the "buffalo wing sauce, but the regular hot sauce) It's very easy: melted butter and Frank's. I put a clove of finely minced garlic in mine for extra flavor and sometimes I add red pepper flakes for more spice.~Megs~

Re: What hot wings do you buy?
I love that vacuum sealer! I use mine for my salads. What used to not last 2 days can now last 2 weeks if I don't eat it before. heh So amazing! I also made a dreamfields lasagna a few months back and vacuumed portions and they are just as good as before. The only thing I don't like is the bags are expensive even though I rinse out my salad bags and reuse!Originally posted by ChickladyI make my own too, but I like to fry mine instead of baking. Ok on to wings. I'm kinda clueless when it comes to wings. My husband brought some home once from the freezer section and they were pretty good but thats the only time I've ate them. I was looking at some today in the store raw and my question is are you supposed to cut anything off of them? I know the ones from the frozen section were just little pieces but the raw ones had the actual wing/flap (lol) connected?
I'd really like to try to make these. I've never been much of a wing person because there always seemed to be something bigger/better to eat. (they seem scrawny) for a meal.
