Exploding Spaghetti Squash

I was not happy at the time but I can laugh about it now. I was cooking spaghetti squash the other day and the thing exploded in the microwave. Squash all over. Obviously I had not stabbed it enough (or had enough).
Maybe I needed to clean the microwave - it looks good now.

I like spaghetti squash with my spaghetti sauce. And it is easy enough to nuke a squash for me (unless it explodes of course) while I cook the spaghetti for the rest of the family.

Sorry that happened to you but it is kinda funny. I'm always afraid that mine is going to explode too when you hear it in there hissing while it cooks. Now that I've heard your story, I'll be very nervous!!

If it makes you feel any better, when we got our first microwave when i was young and stupid , it seemed like a really good idea to me to make boiled eggs in it. So i put a couple of whole eggs on a plate and put them in..i don't think it lasted 20 second before they exploded...what was i thinking!?

I usually stab my squash with a knife to make sure i get through it deep enough.

I nuke my squash also but am always very cautious as a friend has one blow up in her face. She had burns on her face from the squash.

What in the world??!... Are you cooking it whole??

I cut mine in half, scoop out the seeds, place cut side down on a plate, add some water and wrap it up with saran wrap. Then nuke it for 10 minutes.

No way would I do it whole in the microwave!

Yes, I do the whole thing. You have to make sure you have poked holes in it completely and lot of holes!!! It's much easier to cut and scoop when it's cooked.

I'm with you. I've only cooked one and this is how I did it. I planted some so we'll see if any come to be that are edible.
