  • Atkins Friendly Iced Coffee?

Hey everyone,I was just curious. Does anyone know if you can get an Atkins-friendly iced coffee from McDonalds? I've never had one but I heard that they can sweeten it with Splenda. I would think that if you have it decaf, with splenda, and cream it would be ok...right? Just curious thanks!

Slandrea is right, the small has 8 carbs (probably coming from the Milk and sugar alcohol's, here is a list of the ingredients

Premium Roast Coffee. Light Cream: Milk, cream, sodium phosphate, sodium polyphosphate, DATEM, sodium stearoyl lactylate, tetra sodium pyrophosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium citrate, carrageenan. CONTAINS: MILK. Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup: Water, erythritol, natural (plant source) and artificial flavors, cellulose gum, sucralose, salt, malic acid, potassium sorbate (preservative), acesulfame potassium, caramel color (with sulfites). Ice.

personally I would just make my own with cold coffee, cream, splenda and ice and blend.

I freeze coffee (decaf) ice cubes to make my own like that. Nice on hot days.

I make my own and I like mine better than Starbucks (and I love Starbucks!). I use Sweet n Low because I'm starting to dislike Splenda. I fill a large glass with ice, pour in coffee, sweeten a little and mix in cream...then enjoy.

                Re: Atkins Friendly Iced Coffee?

I do what Sadie suggested whenever I want an iced coffee.

                My Iced Coffee
                (makes about 2 cups)

                2-3 coffee ice cubes*
                1 cup cold coffee
                sweetener of your choice
1 teaspoon egg white powder (optional)**
                1 tablespoon heavy cream

Put everything except the heavy cream into the blender. Blend until the ice cubes are crushed and well incorporated. Pour/scoop into a wide mouth glass. Add the heavy cream and stir.

                * To make the coffee ice cubes, pour cooled coffee into ice cube trays. Let freeze, the pop out the cubes and store in a sealed plastic bag in the freezer.

**The egg white powder just makes it more frothy. It can be left out without affecting the flavor.

Megs, do you think liquid pasteurized egg whites would also help with frothing?

                    Re: Atkins Friendly Iced Coffee?

I never tried the liquid egg whites. But I usually don't add the egg white powder because I seldom have it in my cupboard. Not using it doesn't affect the taste, imo.

You can get a Decafe Breve Latte at Starbucks either hot of iced. I dont know what the carb count would be but its with cream so its Atkins friendly. Its not sweetened either so you can choose to add splenda or not.

This drink has always helped me when I do have a craving for the taste of coffee. I dont sweeten mine at all.
