    1 Carb, Is this right?

Hi, I just made a recipy for Chicken broth, from a low carb cookbook, They give the amount of carbs as 1 carb/cup, although the recipy contains 1 onoin, garlic cloves, selery stalks and carrots.

If strained and I don't consume the veggies, but only use the strained, clear broth, do I have to count the carbs of the veggies that was cooked in the broth?

    Thanks

When you cook veggies with broth, some of the carbs are in the broth. Because you don't eat the veggie, you don't get any of the fiber, just the carbs. Carrots are pretty carby and so are onions and garlic. I would certainly count the 1 carb per cup. If you are on induction, you can't have carrots.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thanks Sunnysmile, do you think there are more than just the mentioned 1 carb in a cup, since the onion etc are such high carb veggies?

Most likely not. There is a lot of liquid to the broth, which has no carbs. You'll be fine.

Thanks you! I don't want to mess up my efforts, with the wrong count.

I would skip the carrots next time!
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

                  I wouldn't skip the carrot
                  1) flavor
                  2) contributes very little carbs to the cup
                  3) also leaches vitamin A
