  • Hee hee hee---weekly weekend food experiment.

    Today, I'm tinkering with a creamy garlic salad dressing recipe and tinkering with an almond cake recipe.

    The garlic dressing is good (still needs a few more tweaks, imo).

    The almond cake....Well, I just pulled it out of the oven and the thing is shaped exactly like the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima! :yikes It'll probably flatten out a bit while it's cooling. That recipe definitely needs some tweaking!

    Mushroom cloud cake tastes exactly like a cross between a sponge cake and a standard angel food cake (not the effect I was looking for, but not bad for a mistake!) Next time I'll bake it in a tube pan.

        I'm still not happy with the garlic dressing, so back to the drawing board.

        And the cake, well, I've got some tinkering to do with that too. The taste is okay, needs something extra, maybe more vanilla or almond extract, maybe even some lemon peel. I'll post when I'm done tinkering. Other than that, it looks like I'll cut the cake into chunks and bring a trifle to the office tomorrow.
