  • St. Patrick's Day and Easter

    What's on your menu?

    For St. Paddy
    Corned beef (of course)
    Cabbage
Turnips (haven't decide if I'll mash them with cauliflower or have them plain boiled.
An oatless cranachan (okay I know it's Scottish, but I missed out on Robert Burns Night this year!)

Easter: I go to my mom's house. Still have to talk to her about it.

there is a Samoan market in town where the guy makes the best corned beef I have ever purchased in my life..he pulls it out of that salty bucket and wraps it up..you have to soak it at least overnight ....but it is the best ...gotta get it tomorrow thanks for the reminder ...I hope I am not too late.... :yikes
I cook it in a local brew with a hand full of extra spices, hot chiles .onions, garlic whatever....no recipe and simmer it for ever in the oven in a dutch oven...then add cabbage or and chinese brocolli at the last bit of cooking...I do not like to cook the snot out of cabbage so I take it out as soon as it is just tender...mustard on the side ....and beer!

Easter/Passover big deal for us I have to get back to you on the menu!
