The first recipe I tried out of the book was a Portuguese squid stew---that was delish and really easy to make. I also tried the herrings in oatmeal---which I'm going to eat again when I reach that grain rung! That too was a super easy dish---take oatmeal, whirl it in a blender, lightly coat the herrings with it and fry it in bacon fat.~Megs~

oh Lord before I read through I was picturing herring IN oatmeal....barf..but after reading it!!! I am better now!!! I make a lot of Portuguese dishes ...pork and clams I posted the recipe someplace...and I love Protuguese squid stew I will have to check this out
