  • For those who have pressure cookers

Pau has got me interested in buying a pressure cooker!

For those of you who have one, do you like it?

Can you share some of your favorite recipes that you prepare in it?

I may end up at Walmart this weekend and I'm thinking about picking one up. John says he's not afraid of them like I am so he'll help me out in learning to use it!

I had a Sab (I think that's the name of it), but the rubber wore out.
It was good, and I cooked lots of pots of brown rice (my vegetarian days, I guess) in it.

My mom had the Presto brand.

There were a bunch I saw on the INternet yesterday (got me interested, too), but I couldn't find anything that resembled the ones they had on the Exercise. Will have to see if I can find out the brand of that one, too.

As I was searching, there where many places with pressure cooker recipes in them, as well.

Great for tenderizing a tough cut of meat, or for stews/one pot dinners

I was surfing around yesterday too! You and Pau got me interested!
I saw a few recipes but ran out of time before getting to into it.
I love my slow cooker, and it appeals to me that I can make stuff just as yummy even if I don't decide I want it until 2 hours before dinner! I saw one site where the woman said she got hers at Walmart but I can't remember the brand name.

Hmm.. not sure what ours is cause it's packed away for the move.

I love ours! I make all kinds of stuff in it. My favorite recipe is homemade spaghetti sauce. I usually toss in what sounds good though so it's not really a recipe I guess. It starts out with 2tsp chopped garlic, 1tbsp olive oil, 1 onion chopped fine. Turn the pressure cooker onto cook (ours has a seeting for cooking and then pressure cooking) and sautee those ingredients until the onions are soft, add in 1 large can tomato sauce, 1 small can tomato paste, 1 large can diced tomatos, 1 bag of the frozen three color pepper strips, spices of your choice (oregano, basil and season pepper for me), put on the top and set the pressure cooker to cook on high for about 15-20 minutes. I add in sausage or ground beef (cook, drain and add when you add the rest of the ingredients) sometimes.. but it's good meatless too.

        Instant insanity!

I love to make homemade spaghetti sauce Origam! Especially when our tomatos are in over abundance, we're just getting ready to put our plants in for this year, so that would be a good use of the pressure cooker! :yes

I have a presto and love it.
I can make tender any cut of meat in way less time and ribs can be falling off the bones with the rub cooked all the way trough in no time too.

You do need to be careful and follow the direction in your recipe cause unlike the crock pot if 1hr is good 2 hrs aren't and your veggies end up mush.

            Happy low carbing.

I found out the ones at the Reserve Unit are Lagostina. I know that's a good name - it's my regular cookware. I'll have to look on the Internet and see if I can find a location in the area to purchase them.

MOG I love my presto pressure cooker I have had it for at least 12-13 years. I like to make roast in mine.
I brown off a cheap roast chuck is good, while I am browning it I sprinkle it with lots of garlic powder, black pepper and a pinch or two of thyme. when it has browned on both sides I add about 1/4 cup soy sauce then water, wine or beer. burgandy is devine but one good ol beer is good too

I always add a diced onion which seems to melt away and a few cloves of garlic. one can of drained sliced mushrooms completes the recipe I pressure it for about 45 mins and it comes out meltingly tender and gooood!
you can imagine all the things I did with this wonderful meat and gravy pre-atkins days but now I enjoy it with some mashed cauliflower or even over some spaghetti squash.
I highly recommed the pressure cooker and it is a life saver when you haven't thawed anything out for dinner. I also make corned beef in mine I cook it for 45 mins or so remove it add the cabbage and celery and radishes to the juice and pressure for 2 mins. mmm Delish!
