  • Salsa Question

So i picked up this salsa for a pork dish I was making. I spent time looking for the lowest carb per serving salsa. I found a salsa but I don't have the brain to use it yet.. Here's my issue. Its a 2 carb per serving salsa, with 2 carbs in fiber... I thought I hit a gold mine.l I get it home.. and its got chunks of black beans and little pieces of corn in it... I'm still in induction, Is there any way this is a safe 0 net carb food for me ?

    Re: Salsa Question

No. Black beans and corn are not on the Induction Acceptable Food List. Anything that is not on that list should not be eaten before you reach the appropriate OWL rung.

When you go shopping, always check the nutritional label and the list of ingredients. Also, if a food has 2 g of carbohydrate and 2 g of dietary fiber, this may only hold for one serving (because you round up or down the numbers). Black beans have net carbs, corn has net carbs, so the salsa has to have net carbs. If you eat more than 1 serving, those net carbs will add up and you cannot consider them zero anymore.
