  • What do you do w. leftover hamburger grease?

Hello All! Looking forward to picking up some tips...

Just pre-made a batch of hamburgers (pan "grilled") and there was quite a bit of grease left in the pan. If I had been cooking for that night, I would have used the grease to sautee my veggies, but since I was cooking ahead... no dice.
As I was cleaning out the pan, I thought "there must be something I can do w. all this good, friendly lard..." so I thought I'd ask you all for some tips!

What do you do with your leftover grease? (A friend suggested using it to make flour gravy, but for us Atkineers, this is a no go...)

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

while I do save bacon fat, I don't have any uses for hamburger grease. I might use it to grease my cast iron after 'salt scrubbing' but that is all I can think of...but happy to bump this for more info for you.

I love burgers, but can find no good use for the grease that cooks out. I do love bacon fat though. Yum!

I sop it up with paper towels and throw it in the trash.

Throw it out is about the best I've come up with too.

Like others, I do save bacon grease. You can use that to cook just about everything. Hamburger grease has too much of a "hamburger" taste to it for that though.

I suppose you could try feeding it to the neighborhood dogs or something.

I pour a little over the dogs food or on some bread for them for an occasional treat - they love it.

I mix it with bird seed in the winter and make suet balls for them to pick at. Don't save it for human consumption though. Olive oil is healthier and bacon grease is tastier.
