I have switched from SBD to Atkins. South Beach taught me to eat good foods and I carried that a step further by really looking at what I eat. By scrutinizing labels it was an easy choice to dump processed/packaged foods and start making things myself.
Most people think of Atkins followers as people who just eat lots of bacon, jerky, pepperoni, pork rinds and of course, tons of butter. I know I am just at the beginning of my Atkins journey, but I want to do mine in a healthy way.
Like with SBD, I wonder how many people really read the books. South Beach's Dr. A advocated eating real foods (with the exception of Splenda) and so does Atkins' Dr. A.
So, what do I have in mind? Organic and preferably locally grown veggies whenever possible, fresh caught sustainable fish & seafood, organic, cage-free eggs, grass-fed beef/bison, free range chickens, organic herbs, etc. Most important: have a wide variety of things. It prevents culinary boredom and it is more healthy to get a wide variety of nutrients.
I hope there are others here who also try to enjoy a whole foods/clean eating lifestyle.
