  • Unsalting salted nuts

Any ideas how this can be done without them getting soggy? I thought about washing them (or soaking?), but I'm not sure if it would actually work. Maybe I should dry them in the oven?

I want to do this with macadamia nuts. I can only find the salted kind... which for some reason stalls me.

Try putting them in a collander and shaking it around a bit. That would get the bulk of the salt off without having to wash them. I think if they're roasted with salt on them it's kinda just baked in.

OK, this is going to sound weird but it has worked for me:
      • I put some salted nuts in my salad spinner (no more than a cup or so at a time)
      • Rinse them under COLD water while moving them around with my hand
      • Whirl them around in the salad spinner to get most of the water off
      • Then I dry them using my hair dryer set on the low heat/air only setting. Should only take a minute or so. Dump them on paper towels while you look for a container to put them in.

It's not as good as buying unsalted nuts but it has worked for me.
