That came up with the microwaved deluxe American cheese slices! OMGoodness!

I am a snacker, and I LOVE this quick and Atkins friendly recipe for these cheesy, crunchy treatsBRAVO!

To make them a bit more interesting, I cut a clove of garlic and rub that on the cheese before putting in the micro-gives a very mild, but delicious flavor.

Each slice of cheese is one ounce and one carb.

Cut each slice into 16 squares and microwave on high for one minute on parchment...DELISH!

Stores well in an airtight container, and 16 of these treats have only ONE carb! Yay-This snacker is very stoked!

If American Cheese is processed cheese (like Kraft slices) they are not induction friendly.
But I also love microwaved cheese chips. I use cheddar though.

I know about the processed stuff-hardly what I would even call cheese-LOL! And you are correct that if you are using that fake stuff, it is NOT induction friendly...

These are the Deluxe American Cheese slices and ARE cheese, therefore allowed on induction, and not at all greasy like the cheddar ones can sometimes be. Just make sure you are using the slices that are ALL MILK made, and NOT processed with a bunch of weird stuff.

Believe me, I did the research since I do not want to blow this time around living the low carb life!

Good for you. We do not have "American" Cheese here in Canada so I am not really sure what people mean when they say that. I usually think it is those processed slices but obviously it can be other stuff as well. Good to know.

Thank you so much for pointing this out. Pre-Atkins I had tried both and just thought the Deluxe American (which was tastier) was just a more expensive, premium version of the regular processed stuff.

So I looked both of them up on the Kraft site and lo and behold...the Deluxe is real cheese!!! It has real ingredients and 0g carbs. The regular American cheese has whey protein and other stuff with 1g carbs.

I'm going to buy some next grocery trip. Thanks again.

No cheese has zero carb -unless it is made with synthetic milk. What happens on the label is that if it is less that 0.5 of the serving size they list they can claim it is zero. But you should still count the carbs.

Absolutely Liv, and that is why I count each one ounce serving as one carb.
I believe that what you are saying, is exactly what is the case here on their label-the actual count is like 0.04 or something like that and so they say no carbs...but we know better! Count it as one and be on the safe side!
