  • Non-food Food Recipes

Or how you can use food in something that isn't a food.
    *****************************************
    Sugar Facial Scrub

    1-2 tablespoons sugar
1-2 tablespoons oil (like an olive oil)

Mix the sugar with the oil. Then apply to your face. Massage into your skin. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry.

    *******************************************
    Herbal Hair Rinses

Basic recipe is to make a tea, using 1 teaspoon of the dried herb or 1 tablespoon of the fresh herb and 1-2 cups of boiling water. Let it infuse 30 minutes. Cool it. And store in the frig. Use it as the final rinse after you shampoo.

If you don't have the fresh or dried herb, use herbal tea bags: 1 tea bag per 1-2 cups of water.

To bring out blond highlights, use chamomile.

To bring out red highlights, use candula.

To bring out brunnette highlights, use rosemary.

To help with dandruf, use parsley.

Raw oatmeal has no appeal for me. Like the glue in this recipe, it would keep me from tasting it:

              For hair growth.

              1 egg yolk
              2-3 garlic cloves, crushed
castor oil (estimate the amount so that you have enough stuff for the whole head )

Apply an hour or so before bedtime. Wash your hair in the morning.

My brother swears on this. I didn't try it, but he says his hair has become stronger since he started using garlic. Applying it (and getting rid of the garlic "perfume") might be a bit tricky if you have long hair.

                Vinegar All-Purpose Cleaner

Mix together equal parts vinegar and water. Put into a spray bottle and use as you would any other all purpose cleaner.

This stuff is for windows, cleaning the bathroom sink, etc.

I read this in a Janice Cox book:

                      Avocado Seed Scrub

Save the avocado seeds from your avocadoes. Put them in a plastic bag and smash them with a hammer until you have small pieces. Then put the pieces into a blender or coffee grinder to pulverize. To use, add a bit to your regular cleanser, massage into your face.

Honey: if you have a blemish, dab on 100% honey and let it sit on the blemish for 20-30 minutes. Wash off and moisturize as usual.

Opening coconuts with a big knife, smashing avocado seeds with a hammer... You get to eat on plan, do your exercise and have great skin, too!

Mom told me a........... ***drum roll***......... pumpkin (you would not have guessed, huh?!) non-food recipe. Mix pureed pumpkin with ground pumpkin seeds and sugar. Don't eat, but use this as a body scrub.

Onenine08, I don't know exactly what this does. I guess it just exfoliates and makes the skin look nice and soft.
