  • I am asking...please help me

Ok, here is the deal. I fell off the wagon a while back. And I am trying to get motivated again. I need induction menu help. I know that there are bunches of ideas and posts concerning menus. I don't have the time (honestly) to search all of them and come up with all the right 0/0 's that is needed. I am a simple redneck guy from Texas. I am not Bobby Flay and have no interest in "fancy" meals. I am looking for simple plans to go by. I like pork tenderloin, steak, chicken, eggs. I like to grill. Not big on fish. I like asparagus, green beans, squashes (especially zuchinni), broccoli, spinach and other lettuces and cabbage. I am more of a main coarse kinda guy.....I don't care about desserts. I am real busy in my life. I own a small retail store and I work for the railroad, so my day is spent running all over the place. I am asking....if someone would please set up a SIMPLE menu for me to follow. Stuff that is easy to cook and doesn't take alot of time. I don't mind repetition on meals. I know that there are people on this forum that have alot more time, expertise and experience than what I have. And I am asking you if you would help me with this menu. I think that once I get into the routine of the menu, then I might do some experimenting. But I need a routine to follow. Mod, if this is the wrong place for this would you move it to its proper forum. Thank you ALL for your help.

    Sincerely,
The simple redneck guy from Texas

    1. Print this out
    2. Read it
    3. Eat only what's on there

Are saying that you haven't read the book either? It is very hard to be successful in anything if you do not put any effort into it.

p.s. Most people here are very busy also but the successful ones find the time to invest in themselves. Just a thought...

I like simple too - especially on induction. But I think you need to get into planning yourself. One reason I think that is that you have to learn to eat for life and so you have to learn about food. It is the only way I afraid.

      Mizski gave good advice

Here are my thoughts to get you started

Eggs and sugar free meats for breakfast
I like to scramble my eggs with a bit of veggies - onion, pepper, mushrooms and a tad of cheese. I eat this with tomato and cucumber usually or sauteed veggies sometimes (like a mixture of red pepper, broccoli, zucchini and snow peas)

For lunch (do you go home or pack your lunch?)
Burger patties are good (They can be pre made and frozen for quick microwaving)
Again with some veggies you like (stay AWAY from sweet condiments)
Egg salad is easy (boiled eggs mixed with mayo_
Tuna salad is easy (tuna mixed with mayo)
Eat with spinach and a vinaigrette (made by mixing oil and vinegar)

      For supper
Grill your meat (but no barbecue sauce) All meats are safe
side of veggies: asparagus is good, spinach, broccoli

And none of us are Bobby Flay (I don't even like him - but he know how to grill and he likes hot food - so not all bad) but we manage. You have to make time for food. It is to important to ignore.

What kind of cooking equipment do you have or use? For example, do you own a microwave? Do you own a slow cooker/crockpot?

If you have microwave, you can make a "large" batch of food on the weekend or whenever you have time. Divide it into individuals portions and freeze them. Microwave them to heat and eat.

Slow cookers/crock pots are my life-line. When I get home in the evening, I throw my ingredients into it and cook it overnight. It does the cooking while I sleep. In the morning, I turn off the slow cooker and go to work. When I get home, I just have to heat and eat (and freeze any leftovers.)

Quiche is a great thing for breakfast. Here is a link to my favorite~~

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

I frequently use sausage instead of ham & spinach instead of broccoli.

Also on this website is a list of menus that Linda has used. This might be a big help to you.

          Good luck!

Hey, thanks ya'll for the input. Sorry about the pleading, bleeding heart stuff. I am completely stressed out from most everything and feel like I need to scream. Kinda lost and don't know where to go. Ooops, there I go again......sorry. I have the slow cooker and the microwave. And your right. I need to sit down and MAKE the time to figure out what I need to do. Thanks again for all of your input. It really helps and I am happy that there are people out there that want to help. You guys are great for using and sacrificing your time to talk to people about this stuff. Here's to you.

Re: I am asking...please help me

Someone recommended Linda Sue's site and I'll take it a step further and make some specific suggestions.

Here's where she details her own induction-friendly menus, with links to the specific recipes. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Induction Menus

When you have time, maybe on the weekends, cook up a couple of her delicious casseroles. They're easy and you can eat on them all week. Here are a few of my favorite recipes from her site:

Also, here's a great list of carb counts for veggies on her site:

I hope this helps. I think the key to this is to develop a reperatoire of dishes you like and to cook ahead. All the links I gave you are for induction-friendly foods. You have to cook and eat and think about cooking and eating no matter what your diet is.

I wish you the best on your journey. We're here for you, man!

Re: I am asking...please help me

One of the best investments I made for breakfast was an egg poaching pan. I can cook up enough poached eggs twice a week to handle my breakfasts. I just divide them up along with a few sausage patties in little baggies and grab and go...I eat them with my fingers because they are hard-cooked.

                Good luck!

Re: I am asking...please help me

when I first started I made individual baggies filled with 3 of each of the following: radishes, pepper strips, celery sticks, cherry tomatos and sugar snap peas. This is an excellent grab-n-go snack. Now I just fill a big tupperware every week - and fill a to-go container daily. My husband pulls it out every day to munch on while he's make his lunch.

I also cook extra for dinner every night and then make individual contains for the fridge that contain meat/veggie or extra salad. I use these for work.

Re: I am asking...please help me

Thanks you guys. Thanks TheRedHead for the great menu ideas. I am going to use them. Since I last posted I have gained another 10 pounds. Due to stress eating. I don't smoke, or drink in excess. I eat. That has been my emotional "goto" thing my whole life. I've been so stressed lately over a multitude of things that I have been eating as though I were starving. I weigh 355 now............this is the heaviest I have ever been. I have had enough. And I am not going to put up with it anymore. I'm tired of being overweight, tired of being out of breath, tired of having no energy. Its so easy to drift along in life. Thats what I have been doing. Its time to change. "To get what you've never had, you must do what you've never done". Thanks again for your posts.
