  • What to do with grain mill and pasta machine?

Several years ago I wanted to only eat whole grains and whole foods. So I got a pasta machine and a grain mill. I've dug around in the cabnets and hunted down most of the parts to these and the Mixer/blender. I am wondering how to make use of this. I can put some beans in the grain mill so that should be okay for soup for rung 6. But really, PASTA! please. Ironicly I lost the blades to the meat grinder attachment, I think I could get replacement parts to that. I was looking for a way to rice cauliflower for soup and made a tour of useless appliances. Are there any really creative things you can do with this equipment? Atkins friendly pasta? The grainmill only handles dry nonoily beans.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

    1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
    2nd mini goal: 140!
    3rd mini goal:135!
    4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

When you get to the Grains Rung of OWL and Pre-Maintenance, whole wheat pasta is possible.

Also, check your library for a copy of Lidia Bastianich's book "Lidia's Italy"---it has pasta recipe using chickpea flour, chestnut flour, etc.

You can also play around with various pastas using different flours like Megs mentions and using various veggies. Dr. Atkins mentions spinach pasta a lot.

The use of nut flours and veggies cuts down the carbs quite a bit. Also, although I don't know the nutritional stats for regular homemade pasta (traditional recipe using semolina), I suspect it has a lot less carbs. I notice that the boiling water isn't as cloudy as with boxed dry pastas and after eating homemade pasta, I never felt that heavy bloat feeling.

Whatever the homemade pasta recipe, portion size will be of critical importance. No more huge bowls of pasta but rather a side dish.

Keep both machines, they will be very useful in the future.

Thanks! I am pushing my way up the rungs. I am not too unhappy with my size so I am tempted to got on to maintance for awhile. I keep saying five more pounds and the 10s should fit. Strange that I got this stuff and then moved on to atkins and it really hasn't gotten used. But yeah, if I make it to the grain rung I am set to make spelt breads and pastas so I can eat atkins for life and really enjoy maintance.
