  • Pectin

I'm going to be making some jam, without sugar of course.

I have the choice of buying either Pomonas Universal Pectin or Sure-Jell Premium Pectin.

    Which would you recommend?

    Re: Pectin

Well, the real question may be is it liquid or dry mix. On fitday the dry mix is full of carbs but the liquid version is fine. I don't know why that is. As far as the functioning, I have used Sure-Jell before and it works fine.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

      Re: Pectin

The Sure Jell has dextrose in it I think - so that would be sugar. I think the pomonas would be the better choice. It is sugar free I think. Are you going to sweeten it with splenda?
I believe it is possible to make jam using gelatin instead of pectin. But I have not tried.

If it has dextrose, I'm not going to buy it.

Or, as you say, I could always use some gelatin.

        Thanks.

          Re: Pectin

There are pectins made specifically for "low sugar" or "sugar free" jams. So look for those.
