I have never been a big fan of fish but my DH and I would like to start eating it. We know we don't like salmon. What kinds of fish is there that isn't "fishy" tasting? My mother suggested starting out with Sole, Pickerel or Cod. Any suggestions here?

Re: A question about fish?
I prefer fish taste like chicken ... or anything other than fish!
I will eat salmon if someone serves it to me for dinner.
Try tilapia ... I buy it frozen, and bake it brushed with butter.
It doesn't taste like fish!J.

Re: A question about fish?
Swai is another tilapia-like fish.
But don't limit yourself to fish, in terms of seafood. Shrimp, scallops, real crab and real lobster, clams, etc. are all acceptable seafoods during Atkins.

Re: A question about fish?
Cod, sole and haddock are very mild, tender white fishes. Sole (flounder) is very thin and more difficult to cook with great results so I'd stick with the cod or haddock out of those three.
Tilapia, as mentioned above, is another mild and easy to cook fish. It has a firmer texture than cod or haddock.
Halibut is another very tasty fish. It is firm textured and is best broiled or grilled.
Salmon and swordfish have more of a pronounced seafood flavor.
Easy secrets for great fish: Don't overcook it and most important, fish should never smell fishy. It HAS to be fresh. Of course, fresh caught is best but frozen can be good too. Thaw it in milk or cream to get rid of any fishy taste (then throw that milk/cream out...do NOT use it). Cook the fish the same day it is thawed.
Check out different fish recipes. I like my fish simple, usually baked or broiled with butter. Others like it covered with tomatoes and such. Experiment and find out what appeals to you!
