  • BBQ Sauce

I was wondering if this would be alright to eat, I tried the Low Carb stuff from the store and it was alright. But, I have had this bbq sauce before and wouldn't mind it again. Here's the Ingredients:

    Mustard
    Low Carb Ketchup
    Half-Salt
    Garam-Masala

    Thanks for any help!

Pau, garam masala is an Indian spice mixture. It can have a variety of spices depending on the chef/company that makes it, but most of the time it contains cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, cumin, coriander, and nutmeg/mace.

Poonz, you've got a lot of flavors going on there! Ketchup has a bunch of spices, most probably cloves and cinnamon, so ketchup and garam masala may not be that much of a stretch. Mustard seeds are a fairly common ingredient in Bengali cooking, which also, as far as I know, utilizes garam masala, so mustard and garam masala probably works. Now that I think about it, I think I've come across garam masala recipes with mustard seed in them. Ketchup and mustard, as I'm sure you know, is a popular combo for BBQ sauce. At first glance, you definitely have a lot of combos with culinary precedence.

But all three? You've got me there Let me say this, though. If you had a picnic and serve this as a condiment... I'd taste it. And although I like a lot of foods from different cultures, I'm definitely not adventuresome.

Have you considered adding any sort of sweetener? Brown sugar is a popular sweetener for BBQ, which could be done with splenda and blackstrap molasses. And usually when sweetness is added, some additional sourness is added in the way of vinegar.

Most of the garam masala's I've come across don't have a lot of heat to them - not much cayenne. How about a little red pepper to give it some zing.

I put caramelized onions in all my BBQ sauces, but that's just me. I think anything is better with caramelized onions.

        Thank you scott :hug

I agree with all you said. Garam Masala :nono
I´d also add onion :nod I usually cook a lot and freeze it. YUM!

And I´d also add a bit Tabasco :guns , balsamic vinegar and apart from Ketchup some tomato sauce (the normal one) to make the sauce softer.
