    Re: Superbowl Quandary!?!?

make meatballs - use pork rinds in place of bread crumbs or crackers (as your filler) - as long as you make your own you know exactly what's in them.

We are having: deli deluxe cheese "chips", wings (homemade), meatballs, celery, broccoli, cauliflower (cut up in small portions), deviled eggs, and Linda's Texas Chili -- I won't be eating every single thing but it gives my family a choice and if I decide to there is nothing I can't have.

Also remember - carrots aren't allowed in induction so you should only be eating celery sticks with your wings. Wings are easy to make so don't rely on the grocer to make things for you -- they add sugars & sodium for "taste" ....

@imagood1 I have a turkey fryer - you know - the great big one that you can deep fry a turkey in. Yes, I am from the South. I think I'm going to use it and just fry my own wings. Sam's has a huge bag of wings, and it's not exactly like they're hard to make. Besides, any ol' excuse to play with fire works for me. I am a deep frying, grilling queen!

I fry my wings in a skillet on top of the stove -- usually make about a dozen or dozen & a half at a time and use Smart Balance Oil.

The first time I had wings was at The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY - original home of the wing....I've had them throughout the country and still prefer the ones at The Anchor. Mine taste as close to there's as possible.

I get my bags of wings at Sam's also -- or at Walmart (they have a pretty good size sack there).

I hear you playing with the deep fryer -- if I had one I've fire that baby up this weekend also!!

Anyone reading this -- watch the ingredients in canned chicken -- they add corn starch so it's not something you should be eating....use the chicken breast as recommended here!!

I saved the Buffalo Chicken dip recipe also -- will try that.

I just finished making revolution rolls, sloppy toms (turkey meat not hamburger so it's not a sloppy joe), deviled eggs and meatballs for tomorrow. I'll wait until tomorrow to make the wings -- I like them hot and fresh!!

              Re: Superbowl Quandary!?!?

I'm doing four racks of Baby Back Ribs on the smoker (home made rub - no BBQ sauce).

I am also doing Deviled Eggs, Jalapeno Poppers, and a veggie tray.

I had to run to the store this morning to get a bag of wings.

I suppose you could also do a salami and cheese platter.

                Re: Superbowl Quandary!?!?

Got some buffalo wings marinating in franks red hot and Emeril's hot sauce (just a little extra heat. Then I bought a wing sauce because mine always comes out too thin.

Also the possibility of bacon wrapped hot dogs but I think the wings will be more than enough. I'll throw my recipe up cause its simple

Oscar Mayer natural hot dogs (nitrate free)
thick cut bacon (sadly it isn't nitrate free)
                American cheese

Slice the hot dogs down the middle (not all the way though) to make a cavity for the cheese. Take a slice of cheese (I have been using half a slice per dog to stay under cheese limit) and fold it into quarters (you need the thickness so it doesn't all melt away). Wrap bacon around hot dog (use tooth pick to hold bacon if you cant get it to stay).

I cook it at 500 degrees 10-15 minutes or until bacon is done. Other recipes say to use a broiler.

                  Re: Superbowl Quandary!?!?

Here was our table for Super Bowl - I am the only one of the 3 of us who is on Atkins:

Atkins food on the table that I partook in: cheese chips, guacamole, cheese slices and no sugar pickles, shrimp, wings, veggie plate, sloppy toms (turkey meat not hamburger so they aren't sloppy joes), meatballs. I had some sloppy tom meat on my plate, 3 shrimp, 3 meatballs, 3 wings and mostly vegetables.

Non Atkins food on the table: hamburger buns, regular chips and lemon meringue pie - I didn't touch these things.

Hope everyone had a good food day yesterday!
