How much roast?

Hey everybody,

How much roast would you buy to feed 12-15 people? Everyone seems to have a different opinion on this so I thought I would ask all of you too. Also, I would love to have your answer in pounds; things like "two medium roasts" is a little vague and I want there to be enough food for everyone. It's a good mix of guys and girls eating, but the girls of our group don't eat daintily (there's no one trying to impress anyone here). So think of it as everyone eating their fair share.

I´d say 300 grs/each..... that´s 10,45 oz / 0,65 pounds

It depends on what else will be served as well. A roast will lose a good portion of its mass as it cooks. If it were me, I would figure in roughly 1 lb of pre-cooked roast per person, so, two 8 lbs roasts. Then again, I err on the side of cooking too much as opposed to too little.

Thanks Nullo, I was going to say 1 lb a person but didn't want to look like a pig! LOL, I know when I make pot roast at home we usually cook about a 5 lb roast and that feeds 2 of us for 2 meals.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to make sure we have tons of side dishes and estimate 0.75 pounds per person. I can't financially afford anymore than that. The good news is that roasts are on sale this week, so at least I'm getting them at close to half price.
