OMG Piggley Wiggley have not seen one since...forever!!!!!.....Moggies my issue with Walmart (besides my obvious political one) is that I do not feel like I can Pop into them at all ....they bombard you at the door first with a greeter then all kinds of crap you do not need is all in your face then you have to go so far into this overwheming maze of crap to find the good bargians or things that you do want....all the while junk food and plastic **** is lambasting your senses ....it is just soooooo overstimulating for me..but then look what I do for a living ..by the end of the day it is all I can do to even talk to people let alone go through a maze of intensity!!!! ....yeah it Texas I visited a Walmart that had the grocer attached and yep the produce was amazing and fairly cheap ..the rest of the store was lack luster where the food was concerned and of course no Beer as I was in a dry county!!!!

LOL, well I've never found the Walmart shopping experience "enjoyable" either!
Its not that I like to shop there, its just that I can't justify paying twice as much for something somewhere else when I know I can get the exact same thing so so much cheaper!
Believe me, when John and I go there, we know exactly what we're there for and we do what I call "Hit and Run" shopping, we take our little wrist walkie talkies and both head in a different direction, grab what we came for and usually are on our way out the door w/i 20 minutes, at the most!
I've never been in a Super Walmart, my sister went to one that's about 20 miles from here and she said she was not at all impressed with the selection or the prices of the grocery section.

[quote="nurselady"]Well, we got ours free w/ Marlboro miles, we also go my mom and dad a set, they absolutley love theirs! Dad makes mom wear hers all day long so when he's in the basement or out on the property somewhere they can stay in touch! She calls it her "house arrest bracelet" LOL They have pretty much worn the set we gave them out, so they went on E-bay and bought 2 more sets! They're super cool, we use them when we go fishing on the pier at the beach too, so when I go back to the hotel to fix our lunch John can tell me if he wants to bring more beer on my way back or whatever. LOLOriginally posted by MindykinsOMG I AM SO GETTING SOME .....that is so awesome an idea!!!!!! I love it!!!! thanks!!!!! :joy :joy :joyOriginally posted by MotherOfGizmowe take our little wrist walkie talkies
Mostly it keeps him from getting in a rage when he can't find me in Walmart though, problem is, he likes to kid around and breath reallly heavily into it while we're in the store, people around me give me dirty looks and stares! :geek

oh oh we really got off here ...btw those are very cool and I thought of how we could equate them to food so it would be an official food forum chat...I could send DH into Walmart the just give him directions to all the low carb foods on my list while I sat in the car sipping water and bossing him around?........they are really cool...maybe I can get them for DH for fathers day????

Don't let him turn it into a "house arrest bracelet" though like what my dad did to my mom! LOL
He'd probabaly love them though...I like them when John is down in the basement working on projects too, I don't have to yell down the stairs and when I'm out walking Gizmo I feel a little safer being able to scream and knowing he can hear me blocks away ! LOL (that's excercise BTW so it fits in w/ the Atkins wol)

LOL, we used to use our cell phones, but mine is always buried in the bottom of my purse somewhere and by the time I retrieve it the call is always already in voicemail! That makes John even madder! LOL the Walkie Talkie is convenient because its strapped to my wrist, no more searching!
I hit and run shop at walmart, but I'm usually pretty bad at the grocery store, I use coupons and it just seems to take twice as long when you use coupons because I have to figure out after the store doubles the coupon will I be coming out cheaper on this product rather than just buying the one that is on sale to begin with. I'm a dork about it, but I save 100's of dollars in coupons a year by taking the time to use them. I do not take John with me on the grocery store trips unless absolutley nesicary, he makes me such a nervous wreck that I end up forgetting things we need and have to go back to the store again w/o him! :geek

Piggly Wiggly. i'm sitting here giggling about that name. it's so much fun to say! piggly wiggly, piggly wiggly, piggly wiggly, piggly wiggly
sorry..got carried away..
I shop at Walmart too, Never been to a super walmart except in the states. ours just got a refrigerated section..but no produce. The frozen food is pretty cheap there. I don't enjoy the whole walmart experience, I find i always buy stuff i don't need. and I spend waaay to much time in there. I wish I could Hit and Run shop!
We really don't have much variety here as far as shopping goes. Our stores, even the clothing ones. Always seem to be owned by the same big corporations, so everything is the same. We have three big stores to shop in: Walmart Zellers and Canadian Tire (the only thing they don't sell that the others do is clothes and food). And only two dept stores, The Bay and Sears. Basically they really tell all the same stuff at the same price, so i have to search my flyers every week and see who has what on sale and run around. . I hate it. That's why I love shopping in the states, there just seems to be more selection, or maybe it's because the stuff is different. Even your walmarts selection of clothes ans shoes is completely different and awesome..and WAY cheaper!
There's really not alot of competition here anymore. Those 3 big stores put all the little bargain chains out of business.
I do live up the street from a very trendy area with lots of independant little clothing stores, but of course they cater to the yuppie crowd so although i love the stuff most have..i can't really affor to shop there much. :no
Thoug I will say we do have a pretty good selecion of grocery stores which I love. Because there are quite a few, we get some great sales, and variety.Jen, 39, F

ROTFLMBO Mindykins! I love it...maybe I'll suggest shopping that way to John!!!!!!!!! :yes
Sadie, you would love it here. OMG there are so many malls and strip malls, plus we have a whole city that has just about nothing but Outlet Stores, where you can get brand name stuff for less than 1/2 the price it is in the big department stores! Me, I just hate shopping! But when I was younger I could go shopping everyday, I loved it! Now its just a big hassle.
Oh, and I always like the name Piggly Wiggly too! It is fun to say and their logo is a little piggy face too~! the Place they put in the old Piggly Wiggly store now is called "NoFo at the Pig" and they have all these little pink piggys made out of pipes with curly tails in the parking lot! NOFO is a chain, but they personalized this one by making it "at the Pig" for the locals I guess.

I get claustrophobic in big department stores. It's like all the merchandise is trying to reach out and grab me like in the Wizzard of Oz when Dorothy & company were trapsing through the forest and all the trees were grabbing them!!! ARRRGH!
I can't give Walmart my money either Nursey.Mindykins
