Just bought some jicama & celeriac, and have never used them before. Can anyone give me some ideas about what to do with them, any good recipes, or serving ideas?

I like jicama diced up and added to seafood salad. My favorite recipe is:
(forgive me, I never measure)
Cooked shrimp, either tiny ones, or chop them up
Mayonaisse
Wasabi (optional)
Jicama
Peel the jicama, using a very sharp knife, and dice it into small pieces.
I like a heap of this on top of mixed greens. yummmmmmmmmm

You can boil and mash celeriac like potatoes.
You can cut them into fries and fry them like potatoes.
You can slice them thinly and fry them like potato chips.~Megs~

First of all good for you for buying something you have never tried!!!! whoooo hoooooooooooo :clapping :clapping :clapping
I use jicama a LOT!!! I slice it thin and use it as the "bread" for a sandwich, I cut it up into bite sized pieces and put lime juice and hot chile on it with a hand ful of chopped cilantro (or not) and have it as a pico de gallo. You can just cut it up and eat it really it is very good just as it is.
celeriac is another story I love celeryroot salad (just a good home made recipe for Italian dressing over some thinly sliced celery root) however I have not hand good luck finding a good celeryroot ...oh yeah it goes well in soup!....

Jicama I dice up and pan fry with butter and olive oil like hashbrowns, or throw in the oven diced up with onion and garlic and a stick of butter. Takes a long time for it to "brown", like an hour in the oven. And it doesn't get soft, keeps a nice crisp crunchy texture! Or I just eat it raw. The thing with jicama, it goes bad fast. So as soon as I get it home I peel it and slice it up and throw it in a container with water and keep it in the frig.
I'll look, I think I have a picture.....

OK, NOW I need breakfast!!!BARB
