  • Miracle Noodles reviews?

Hi there. I'm just back after a LONG absence. Time to get on the horse and stay there this time...

anyway, I just saw the ad on here for Miracle Noodles and am intrigued. I went to their website to check it out and would love to order some but virtually everything on the site says it's out of stock "6-8 weeks".

Anyone know how to get them? Even better question: has anyone on here tried them and have a review to share?

    Thanks,
    Ang

Fishy, very fishy! Literally, I found them to not taste like anything, just a filler. I was not impressed. But, I also don't care for most fish. Sorry, about my view, you may really like them. All you can do it try them and see. Let us know if you try them and what you think. Also, they go by different names, just google no carb noodles and you will see lots of sites for them. Hope it helps.

They're also called shiritake noodles and you may find them in Asian markets in the refrigerator aisle.

They do have a fishy smell to them. So you have to really rinse them under running water. Otherwise, I agree with Sue---they are just filler and more for texture than taste. The texture is chewy---sorta like Twizzler's candy.

Some people think they make a good substitute for pasta and have eaten them with spaghetti sauce, but I think they do better in Asian-style preparations, like noodle soups and lo mein-type stuff---where the flavors of the other ingredients make up for the tastelessness of the shiritake noodles.

The miracle noodle you find online is just the yam noodle...it IS fishy smelling, and has the texture of a rubber band (not that I eat too many of those )
House foods puts out Shiratake noodles...they're refrigerated in 8 ounce packages. They are the yam, plus tofu. I'm not much for tofu, but it REALLY helps the texture. Still has 9but not as bad) that fishy smell. I rinse mine then boil for a couple of minutes then rinse and use. Still chewy, but not nearly as much as the straight yam ones. Another thread about this, a poster said some of the chewiness disappeared of you stir fried it. Haven't tried it that way.....

Just my 2 cents. It is a "yam" noodle, but not yams as we know them in the US. They are made of a very high fiber root which is why they have essentially no carbs. My husband is thrilled whenever I make them because we gave up all other kinds of pasta ages ago. You MUST rinse them, and I prefer to boil them in a broth to reduce the fishy smell. I like to make them asian style, as Megs suggested. I usually do soy sauce, veggies and chicken or shrimp.

I should mention, no reason to buy these online. You can buy them at asian stores and some regular grocery stores in the produce section by the refrigerated salad dressings or refrigerated asian products such as egg roll wrappers.

lol I'll agree with that but I don't eat fish. I can't even force myself too. Actually I did force myself once but I was in tears. I tried tuna fish recently and had to scrape it off my tongue. ha! So the thought of anything remotely fishy doesn't appeal. I'd choose spaghetti squash over those, personally.

I take fish oil pills I figure I need them.

                Hi,

A friend of mine rinses them then puts them in the microwave to dry them out a bit. They say that after they do that, the noodles soak up whatever sauce you put on them and that their texture is better. I have not personally tried this method but plan to down the road.

I am a HUGE pasta fan, so I was really excited to find these. I had to order them, but in my opinion, they are worth buying. I rinse, boil & then microwave them to rid them of any "fishy" odor and to prep them for cooking. My husband, who is also on Atkins, does not care for the noodles very much. To each their own!!

What about going with the fishy taste maybe doing a tuna caserole??? Can you have these in induction???

Yes, you can have these during Induction because they are very close to carb-free. They are basically just fiber, so they're a great addition to your meals.

I haven't tried them in a tuna or seafood oriented dish yet, but if you rise them straight out of the package (in very cold water for about 5 mins) and then boil them for a short period of time, you shouldn't be able to detect the "fishy" smell at all. I love these in low carb alfredo sauce with chopped mushroom, green pepper and onion & a lil parm. cheese sprinkled on the top --- DELISH!!

                        Re: Miracle Noodles reviews?

Well, here's my $.02 for what it's worth: I ordered these online a while ago because there just weren't any stores that carried them. I'm happy I did, and I ended up eating all but 2 of the 12 packages I ordered before they expired. However, they really don't have the texture or taste of either pasta or rice noodles. I'd say they were more gelatinous, but firm, if that makes sense. I like to boil them, then fry in a little oil until kind of dried out, then scramble in an egg and chicken, veggies, and soy/ginger/splenda/garlic/sriacha/sesame oil with green onions. Kind of a fried noodle type thing.
Good luck with them, if you decide to buy them. Just don't go into the experience expecting them to be like the noodles you are used to; it might put you off them.

I have just ordered two packets of these. The packaging is all in Japanese. Am I supposed to keep them in the fridge? They have been sitting in my cupboard as I didn't realise.

There is really no fishy taste after you rinse the noodles
(in store Shiritake is all have tried) ......all and all I think they are a great subsitute for noodles. They really help fullfill that pasta craving (especially the angel hair variety).

I know the fishy smell of the store bought (House brand) ones disappears. If that's the only thing stopping one from trying these, you only have to put up with the smell for a minute or two If you like making cold spicy sesame noodles, these will not disappoint.
