Jicama?? What to do with it??

Hello!! I am still in Induction. I bought a Jicama yesterday, but I don't know what to do with it. Can I fry it like a potato?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

You are sooooo lucky you can find it! I've searched and searched around here with no luck. I've heard it's good with a little splenda and cinnamon (almost like apple slices). Also, there is this recipe I would love to try if I had a jicama:

Do a search on "jicama" and you should also find a ton of good stuff!

Thank you!!! I got mine at a Meijer Superstore. I wonder if I could ship some to you, if it would keep? I wouldn't mind. It only costs .99 cents a pound. I only got one in case I didn't like it.

You are so sweet! It's been a few weeks since I've checked, I was told they were seasonal veggies. I hope they come in around my way soon. Funny since they come from Mexico that they'd be all the way in Michigan and not in Alabama!

I love it icey cold sliced with fresh squeezed lime juice hot chile powder and cilantro


or slice it and eat it ...
you can also dice it and fry it with onions until golden brown to serve with eggs..

I slice them thin and drop in the deep fryer until golden. If they're a bit soft in the center still, I pop them in the oven for a few minutes. Crisp slightly sweet chips.

I can never get them to crisp when I try to fry them! I like them like Heidi does, lime juice and chili powder and nicely chilled.

yeah MOGS...deep frying them was kind of lack luster they looked great but had a wierd texture...another thing you can do ...

to either slice them really paper thin then roll them around cream cheese mixed with olives or you can make them into cracker sized pieces and dip them in some home made guacamole

I love jicama such a wonderful veggie

OH, man! I miss jicama so much! Haven't found them ANYWHERE in ages here!! I dice them up small, throw them in a baking dish with some chopped onion and garlic, add a stick of butter and bake them for about an hour at 350, turning occassionally, for ovenfries in the morning for breakfast! Yummmmm!!

nope just the hashbrowns ...I have made the fries and they look great but are kind of ...blech....the hashbrowns however are wonderful!
