  • Swordfish

I bought a piece of swordfish yesterday, although I have never been able to cook it in a way that I enjoy if afterwards. I've eaten it many times before at restaurants and loved it... but I just can't cook the darn thing myself.

    Any suggestions??

I do not have a GeorgeForeman Grill...or a BBQ, so it must be pan friend, baked or broiled.

Thanks in advance... I'm hungry and it's the only thing I have to cook that is not frozen. I doubt I'll get a fast enough reply to be able to eat it for lunch, but I'll keep my fingers crossed, or eat it dry and nasty again.

Atleast, next time, I'll be able to make it tasty.

I only cook my swordfish grilled. But here's a link to swordfish recipes. I can't vouch them...

Thanks. I'll try them next time around.

I actually just finished eating lunch. I don't know how I did it, but I was able to finally avoid overcooking the heck out of it and turning it into jerky.... which is how mine usually turns out.

It wasn't the best tasting... but it came out decent enough to eat. The flavor was a bit odd for fish, but it still tasted good.

I marinated it in some greek salad dressing for about 20 minutes while I cooked up some bacon for my salad. I pan-fried the fish in the bacon grease 5 minutes on one side.. then 3 on the other. I could have gone 3 + 3, but I was afraid to undercook it.

It seemed okay... but I'm sure an actual recipe would come out tasting better.

Just don't overcook it. If it is a good piece of fish to begin with, it should taste and smell good even when it is raw. A fast pan-searing in a bit of oil should do very well, though fire grilling is probably the best treatment for swordfish.
